A fall from Grace

A Fall from Grace - Peculiar Ministers Christian Movement

A fall from Grace. 2 Peter 1:3 says,

“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:”

I specifically love the way NLT (New Living Translation) presents this verse. Let’s check it out. 2 Peter 1:3 (NLT) says,

“By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.”

It would be almost impossible for us to give consideration to all of the text in the verse above. That is not the aim. However, I would want us to pay close attention to the highlighted portion below. You might want to read it over and over again.

“…God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him,..”

Friends, God has made available everything that we would ever need in our lives forever. He did not stop at just providing all these things, He also established a system that would enable you and I to receive and have unrestricted access to these beautiful provisions – “by coming to know Him (the wonderful personality of Jesus).”

What this means is that, the very moment we have believed in Him, and have come to know Him, we have been given unreserved access to every of the spiritual blessings in heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3) as many times as possible – God, withholding nothing back.

To this end, God is not the one punishing you, neither is He the one responsible for any and every unfavourably situation you might be passing through. Note:

– He is not responsible for your sickness – “… by His stripes, ye were healed” (Isaiah 53:5, 1 Peter 2:24)

– He is not responsible for your lack or poverty – “though He was rich, yet for our sakes He became poor, that through His poverty we might be rich.” (2 Corinthians 8:9)

– He is not responsible for your failures – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

The reason why you are the way you are and going through those unkind situations is because you won’t receive that, it is already done. Therefore, whatsoever that is happening to you is as allowed and permitted by you.

Someone once said – There are two prayers God would never answer:

1. When you ask Him to do what He has already done.

2. When you ask Him to do what He told you to do”

A fall from Grace is to fall from (stop trusting and believing) what Jesus has already done back to trusting in what you can do to get it happen, because in Grace, God’s favour is not going to compete with your self effort.

Grace is not a curriculum, it is not a message either. Grace is a personality, the personality of Jesus. John 1:14 says,

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

Grace is the Truth, and Truth is the person of Jesus (John 14:6). Brethren, we have to continually ask for the Grace to believe the Truth always, such that when you receive it, you take it, you don’t think about it, you don’t hesitate about it. You just believe it because it is already done. But, often times, we don’t take the Truth because we don’t believe it is already done.

There is a great danger in having the wrong beliefs because wrong believing puts people in grave bondage. Wrong believing is the reason why some people suffer the things that they suffer. Right believing is a bright light that lights up your path out of prison.

Some people believe that they can’t receive from God without having to do something to deserve it. According to 2 Peter 1:3, it is not true! Everything we need and will ever need to live a victorious and fulfilling life here on earth has been given to us freely through the knowledge of Jesus. You don’t deserve it and you never will deserve it. That is why it is called Grace – undeserved favour.

The very moment you try to perform to get God to do something, you make the Grace of God of no effect in your life. Galatians 5:4 (NLT) says,

“For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.”

Friends, you have to get yourself to the place where you have faith in what Jesus has already done 2000+ years ago so that you would stop trying to get Him to do what He has already done for you not to”fall from Grace.”

God bless you.
