Peter Ebong is a servant of God, a Business Strategist by profession and a Pastor by calling. He is the Founder and Lead of Restoration Words International Ministries; a ministry called to restore men back to their Creator.
Kanyinsola Diyan: I am Kanyinsola Diyan from Peculiar Ministers. Thank you so much for honouring our invite. It’s very nice meeting you sir.
Pastor Peter Ebong: Nice meeting you too.
Kanyinsola Diyan: It is a great pleasure sir.
Kanyinsola Diyan: The topic before us is “Called to ministry: Knowing when it is God”. First of all, I will like to ask you sir, “what is ministry?”
Pastor Peter Ebong: Ministry, to me personally, is running with a mandate given by God through His wisdom to fulfill or empower a need in the Body. Ministry is building and equipping men to fully represent the multifaceted dimensions of Christ for kingdom dominance and in preparation of His returning.
Kanyinsola Diyan: How did you know that God will have you be in the pastoral ministry?
Pastor Peter Ebong: Actually, I have started ministry since I was 14, back then in secondary school. So as we grew in responsibility and instructions, He committed to our hands more offices by His Grace.
Funnily enough, I knew I was called a Pastor since 19.
Kanyinsola Diyan: Awesome😊
Pastor Peter Ebong: I started walking in that light but then, other offices also came as we kept on progressing but by His Grace, my official ordination will be this year into Full Pastoral ministry.
Kanyinsola Diyan: When did you set out fully?
Pastor Peter Ebong: It depends on your definition of full time. But for me, I’ve been full time. Other things have been part time.
Pastor Peter Ebong: I still work by the way.
Kanyinsola Diyan: I know very well that you work and I really respect those that work even while in ministry.
Kanyinsola Diyan: When did Restoration Words international Ministry start fully?
Pastor Peter Ebong: December 2017
Kanyinsola Diyan: What instructions from God prompted the beginning of the ministry?
Pastor Peter Ebong: To release a voice note on unforgiveness and then Boom!
Kanyinsola Diyan: Relating to the topic of the interview; How did you know it was God? I have heard some folks say that God can tell you that you’ll start a ministry and God has to tell you to start it. What’s your take about this?
Pastor Peter Ebong: Hmmmm.. We must understand that God does not only speak through His voice. This is very important. The challenge of many young ministers is not actually the “voice” but the fear associated with starting.
God speaks through that nudge.
God speaks through coincidence.
God speaks through events.
God speaks through something called “inner peace”.
We only get confirmations with His word.
Not necessarily His voice but His word because the scripture is a more sure word of prophecy. So, if it is “God has to tell you” as in a voice, I don’t totally agree with that. God speaks with other means but what is important is that, you got the instruction to start.
Kanyinsola Diyan: Starting ministry at a young age, how has the experience been for you?
Pastor Peter Ebong: Yes, very very wonderful. You know that video of a small girl crying with microphone as she tries to speak.
Pastor Peter Ebong: I would say it’s been great positively. In this kingdom, we don’t have negative experiences. I started at 19. Many felt I was too young. Others felt I was not capable. Others felt I was probably joking. The Truth is “No genuine minister is young!”
We see and experience things that mature us even more than people in their fifties. Yes. You know why? We are in constant communication with the Ancient of Days; The Only wise God. You will mature by force even by the issues and experiences we see daily.
Pastor Peter Ebong: Positively, I have no regrets that I moved when I did. Today, they are all seeing that I was not joking after all.
Kanyinsola Diyan: I’m pretty sure that there must have been some kind of discouragement especially from people around. What helped you to be focused?
Pastor Peter Ebong: I really don’t know how I became focused. I won’t lie. I was distracted. I was seeing other ministers and all. I was like Peter, “you sure say you fit get space for this ministry thing wey you dey do?” (Meaning, Are you sure you’ll be effective in ministry?)
But when I went back to my letters on how God called me, when He Called me, and why He called me, I got focused again automatically.
Kanyinsola Diyan: So there’s a place of writing things down and running with it as it is said in Habakkuk 2:2-4.
Pastor Peter Ebong: I also created mental pictures of what I wanted to achieve in ministry. I also blocked off some sources of these distractions.
Kanyinsola Diyan: So, what advice will you like to give to other young Ministers, especially those starting at a much younger age?
Pastor Peter Ebong: Start! Start! Start! When you start, every other thing will fall in place. There is no need to consider what others will say and how they will feel. There is no time. You were born for a time like this. Start!
Kanyinsola Diyan: Thank you so much for your time sir. We have come to the end of the interview. Special greetings from all of us at Peculiar Ministers.
Pastor Peter Ebong: I really appreciate the honour.
