Hebrews 1:7 says,
“And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.”
Have you ever asked yourself why ministers of God are made flames of fire? The question you should even ask yourself first is: “Who a minister of God is?” A minister of God is simply anyone that believes in God and His Son Jesus who is ready to share the gospel without shame, living a life of holiness. Now ask yourself this question: “Am I a minister of God?” God is a consuming fire (Deuteronomy 4:24), therefore His children have the same attribute of being fire themselves.
Fire has some unique features which should be exhibited by every minister of God which has been made so. First, fire purifies. To purify is to cleanse something, or rid of it pollution. As a minister of God who has been made fire, every soul that comes around you must have an encounter with the fire you are. If you are in a church setting or not, let your life is a channel of solutions to problems of souls.
Secondly, fire consumes. As a minister of God who is a flame of fire, the kingdom of darkness should not be able to contain your presence. If you see yourself to be a minister of God and the devil is still toiling with you then you have to check the definition of a minister given above to check if you are in line. This is because, Obadiah 1:18 makes us understand that any contact between ministers of God and devils leads to the devour of such devils that none will remain. At your emergence to a place without speaking a word let your enemies begin to beg for mercy (2 Kings 1:13).
Also, fire has a standard. When you see fire, you know it is fire; no one has to tell you. This is the same way a minister of God is to have a standard which is the Holy Bible. When you are seen, Christ is revealed in your speech, actions, relation with people among others. Jesus said in John 13:15,
“For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.”
Furthermore, fire spreads when the needed factors are available. As a minister of God, the fire you possess is also to ignite that of others. You are to go out to the lost souls to be a light unto their path with the Word of God as your standard. This is by fulfilling the great commission in Matthew 28:19 – 20 which says,
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Lastly but not the least, fire needs air to burn. Without air, fire will quench. In the same vein, the air that sustains the fire of a minister of God is the Holy Spirit. The very second the place of the Holy Spirit begins to be neglected because of human wisdom, pride, achievements, power, sin etc; anointing becomes an annoying thing. Proverbs 3:5 – 6 says,
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
