Every path leads to a destination. A guide can make it easy to arrive at a destination, however, a person who designed the guide for the journey with you makes it all much easier. Gadgets come with a user guide to enhance understanding of the use of the gadget; to fly an aeroplane, you definitely must have been guided with proper trainings. So does our lives need guidance to arrive at our destination. Remember, as a Christian, your ultimate goal is to obtain God (1 Corinthians 9:24); therefore, you need the Bible as a guide.
The Bible is the Word of God. It is God’s instruction for us to live our lives as His own because only His own will hear His voice and follow it (John 10:27). How can you know what God needs you to know? The answer to that is to study His Word – The Bible. The Bible is a guide to living a life of a god that you are (John 10:34; 2 Timothy 2:15).
Did God write the Bible? Yes. What? Am I saying God wrote the Bible in ink? No. The Bible is God’s Word and He placed it in the hearts of humans to write them unto us. The people that put them into ink form that is readable by the eyes were inspired by and of God (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Isaiah 34:16).
The Bible is not an ordinary book. It is the Book of books. The Bible is a guide to Christians. Think of anything you can imagine and you will find an answer in the Bible. Many persons have given acronyms to the “BIBLE” which includes but not limited to “Basic Instructions before Leaving Earth; Best Instructions Before Leaving Earth; Best Investment Before Leaving Earth; Biblical Instruction Before Leaving Earth”. Anyone can read the Bible but only a heart that is ready to have an encounter can experience the power in the Word. 2 Corinthians 3:6 says,
“Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life”.
You may have met with people as I have who have read the Bible from cover to cover but have not surrendered their lives to God as children of God. They study it to disapprove of it affirmations and argue. Just as I mentioned under “The Seed in your Heart”, their hearts are like the wayside (Luke 8:4-18). One reason you need God to speak to you through His Word and not just you reading the letters is because you can only compare spiritual things with spiritual things. 1 Corinthians 2:12-14 says,
“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned”.
God’s Word which are instructions does a whole lot for us as Children of God. As a matter of truth, it is whole of and for a Child of God. Being things of the soul and spirit, the Word of God is very much available and enough to guide you through it. Hebrews 4:12 says,
“For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”.
Your life as a Christian is a sharp contrast to your old life. A daily intake of the Word of God makes you grow – 1 Peter 2:2. You do not run into errors because God who knows the end from the beginning is your guide and guard as you study His Word unto life (Psalm 119:105). By His Word your mind is renewed (Romans 12:1-2) and you are sanctified (John 17:17). With God’s Word with you and in you, you are never confused, stranded or afraid. John 1:12 makes us understand that “as many as received Him He gave power”; power over fear, the devil, addictions, sin etc. For you to do exploits, you need to know your God (Daniel 11:32). When you know your God, you know yourself. When you know your God, you are guided.
How long will the Word of God be to guide us? A season, a moment, or only at the early phase of knowing Him? Matthew 24:35 gives an answer saying,
“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away”.
The Word of God written in ink called a Bible is a guide to your existence. Let the Bible be your most read book. It is unto life. In this world as a Christian, your life is dependent on the Independent Word of God – The Bible.
James 1:22 says,
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves”.
