You have confessed your sins to God; promised never to go back to your vomit. You are a new creature. There are expectations; from God and from the world. It is necessary to know what God expects from His children as to walk in His plans, purpose and standards. It is also important because the kind of life you were living before is a sharp contrast to your new life as a Child of God.
God expects you to put off the old man and put on the new man. Ephesians 4:25-32 tells us numerous habits, conversations and associations we are to put off. The old man is corrupt and deceitful; the new man which is after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. This renewal is by the Holy Ghost in the spirit of your mind (Ephesians 4:23).
Light and darkness are not friends. When light appears, darkness leaves. So does God expect you to break every relationship with the devil and his kingdom (2 Corinthians 6:14-18). There were Christians who did run the heavenly race well, but fell along the way because of their association (Galatians 5:7). Ephesians 5:11 says,
“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them”.
Many people go back to their vomit because they lack root in the word of God. They have not abode in the word for the word to abide in them also (John 15:4). God expects you to have a regular fellowship and unbroken personal relationship with Him. It is important to be consistent in the fellowship with God. The parable of the sower in Luke 8 shows that the heart that received the word and got saved is easily taken off his feet because it lacks root. There is a need for the daily intake of the word of God for the renewing of your mind.
Hebrews 10:25 says,
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching”.
God expects us to fellowship with other believers at all times. Iron sharpens iron.
What you are to expect from the world is hatred and it want to lure you back into doing the things you have put away. The devil is never happy of your salvation. The Lord said in Zechariah 3:2, “…Is this not the one plucked out of the fire?” Don’t give the devil an inch in your life.
You have been called out of darkness into God’s marvelous light. Live your right. Live your power. You are a child of God. Your Father is expecting you to shine (Matthew 5:16).
