Let us clear the air about whom the promise of the Holy Spirit is for. Joel 2:23 explains expressly the intentions of God that the Holy Spirit will be poured out upon all flesh. This revelation came to a manifestation on the arrival of Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 1:13 says,
“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after ye believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise”.
In essence, the Holy Spirit is made available in everyone’s life after believing in Jesus at salvation. In Him we live daily and we connect to our Savior. Besides, ‘human flesh’ can achieve absolutely nothing in the work of righteousness. No man can prevail by his own strength. The will of the Father is that we can all be like Him. That as we have been transformed from an old life to the new life (2 Corinthians 5:17), we should continue in it steadfastly. Only then can you have a life pleasing to God.
John 6:63 says,
“It is the spirit that quickeneth, the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak to you, they are spirit and they are life”.
Without much ado, the Spirit of God lives in you which in the real sense, God lives in you. He gives you life and quickens you from self. The Holy Spirit is the voice from within.
Many times when we are at sea, we are confused about making choices. There comes this war within us of the good and the bad. Conscience you can say. Brethren, the truth is that conscience is guarded by morality and this is not sufficient to live a life that is pleasing to God. Our best has faults and only by holiness and righteousness can a man see God.
Our life is only satiable in the presence of God if we give expression to the life that is within us. Pay uttermost attention to His voice and leadings. This same spirit is life. The most important fact is that God speaks to us every time but it takes only a heart that is in alignment with God to hear him at every point in time.
Jesus said in John 10:27,
“My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow me”.
An instruction is of no value if there is no obedience.
There are divers ways through which God speaks to us. Through His word (John 6:63); His servants (Hebrews 1:1); nature and God’s creation (Romans 1:20); through His son, Jesus Christ (Hebrews 1:1-2); His Spirit within us (John 14:17); prayer (Romans 8:26-27).
Understand that human eyes are too myopic to see what is afore. To see well, you need to watch and pay uttermost attention (revelation). Beloved, it is one thing to hear it is another to follow to the letters.
Hebrews 3:15 says,
“…if ye will hear His voice, harden not your heart…”
When the call comes, be ready to answer; when He instructs, be ready to obey; when He speaks, be quick to listen; when He directs, follow; at every point in time, be a responsible son.
For they that follow the leadings of God strengthen their sonship with the Father.
