The entirety of the Christian faith is centered on Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Son of God (Matthew 16:16; John 3:16; Matthew 3:17); the Saviour of the world from sin (Matthew 1:21); Light of the World (John 8:12); the One who has all power (Matthew 28:18) among others He is. In Hebrews 11:6, the Bible says, “…without faith it is impossible to please God…”; faith here is Jesus because by Him alone can we do what is in right standing with God because He is “the way, truth, and the life” – John 14:6.
All power in Heaven and the earth have been given unto Jesus (Matthew 28:18). All things in the Heavens, on the earth, beneath the earth and any other realm you can think or imagine is subject to the authority of Jesus. At the mention of the name of Jesus, every knee bows. Philippians 2:9-11 says,
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father”.
The question now is, what can the name of Jesus do? Before Jesus was received up into Heaven in the account of Mark, He told His disciples what His name can do. Mark 16:17-18 says,
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover”.
In the name of Jesus Christ, you can cast out devils. Beloved, the Bible says in John 1:12 that, “…as many as received Him, to them gave He power…”. The very minute you believe in Jesus and repent to start a life in the Spirit, the power as a son of God is made available to you. With this power in the name of Jesus that you believe on, devils are casted out. When Jesus sent out the seventy on an evangelical mission, they came back with testimonies of devils being subject to them (Luke 10:17). By the power in the name of Jesus Christ, unclean spirit had to leave people by the shadow of Peter passing over them (Acts 5:16).
In the name of Jesus Christ you can be baptized with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Jesus Christ cannot tell a lie. He said in His name we shall speak in new tongues. In Acts 1:4-8, Jesus gave words on the baptism of the Holy Spirit. In Acts 2:1-7 it was made manifest. It didn’t just stop there; everyone that believes in the name of Jesus, walking in holiness and righteousness can be baptized of the Holy Spirit with new tongues. In Acts 10:44-48, the gentiles received the Holy Spirit. In Acts 19:1-6, believers who had not heard of the Holy Spirit were filled with Him and spoke with tongues, and prophesied. Right now I pray for you in the name of Jesus Christ that as you desire the baptism of the Holy Spirit, receive it.
The name of Jesus protects. Luke 10:18 says,
“And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you”.
Paul was bitten by a viper, he was expected to die but after a great while they waited no harm came to him – Acts 28:1-6. No matter the storm you are in, by the power in the name of Jesus Christ there will be calmness (Mark 4:39). “The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe” – Proverbs 18:10.
Healing is well assured in the name of Jesus. Isaiah 53:5 says,
“But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed”.
No matter the sickness, disease, or infirmity in Jesus there is healing. Even through you just as Paul, healing can flow to others in the name of Jesus (Acts 19:11-12). In the name of Jesus, extraordinary miracles are possible (Acts 3:6).
Among all above mentioned of what the name of Jesus can do, the most amazing and wonderful of them is that the name of Jesus can save. Romans 10:13 says,
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”.
The reason Jesus came to the earth is to reconcile us back to God. To save the lost (Matthew 18:11). It is God’s heart desire that men be saved (1 Timothy 2:4).
Remember what Isaiah 59:1-2 says,
“Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear”.
