Words and the Future

Every time you open your mouth, you form your future. There is a great connection between your words in the present to happenings in the future. Everything we see on earth today and had ever been started with words. Genesis chapter 1 makes us understand that “God said” and as He said things, they came into existence. This tells you that words create.

Your words can create the type of future you want for yourself on earth as Mark 11:23 says,

“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith”.

Also it can can determine your eternity as Matthew 12:36 – 37 says,

“But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned”.

Prayers are said in words as Jabez did to shape his life to a desired one against sorrow as declared by his mother (1 Chronicles 4:10). What you say/decree/declare to yourself today builds your future. Proverbs 18:21 puts it that,

“Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.

Also, it is important to note that words are indicators of greatness or new beginning. An indication of a new beginning for mankind came through words when Jesus was baptized. God spoke as written in Matthew 3:17,

“And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased”.

Again, when the Holy Spirit was given to mankind there was now a speaking through men by the Holy Spirit as written in Acts 2:4 that,

“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance”.

Words can limit you. David did not allow the words of his brother, Eliab, limit him (1 Samuel 17:28). Elijah with so much anointing was so fearful of being killed by Jezebel that he told God to take his life (1 Kings 19:4). By this, Elijah limited himself because he had the anointing and capacity for the task ahead of him. Due to his words, he had to share his task as instructed by God to three people – Hazael, Jehu and Elisha (1 Kings 19:15 – 18).

Also, words can destroy a person. A perfect example is Lucifer, the devil. With the words in his heart, he brought damnation to himself (Isaiah 14:12 – 14). The place of “Me, Myself and I” leads to pride thus destruction; so does cursing and lying (Psalm 59:12).

Furthermore, words can build you up to greatness. Words that are right and aligned with the standard of God. Psalm 119:105 tells us that,

“Thy word [is] a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path”.

Every word that is fashioned and in line with the word of God will give you direction unto a great future. It is important for you as well to know what the Holy Bible says for yourself as not to allow anyone toss you to and fro on what is not in right standing with God. This is why the Bible gives the same warning twice in Proverbs 14:12 and Proverbs 16:25 that,

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof [are] the ways of death”.

Be guided with your words. They build your relationship with God and with men. You are established by good words (2 Thessalonians 2:17).

Colossians 4:6 says,

“Let your speech [be] alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man”.
